Delivery

Deliveries generally take place between 8.00am and 6.00pm. We will endeavour to carry out the deliveries on our own fleet of 6 wheeler/articulated vehicles with detachable forklift offload.  However, with our discretion and especially with longer distance deliveries, we may use a palletised delivery network to ensure a prompt delivery from time of order. Couriers use a tail lift to take our crates off the lorry and then a manual pump truck/trolley to place the goods on the kerbside.

The price paid for transport covers a kerb side delivery. Were they can, they will endeavour to get the pallet as close to the property as they can, however this is at the driver’s discretion. There is a possibly of this if a level and hard standing area is available for the pump truck to be able to place the goods for you. However if the area is not flat, or has an aggregate (gravel/chippings) on it. Unfortunately the pump truck is unable to move over this surface so the driver will leave this in the safest place on a hard ground at their discretion. If you would like to discuss this further then please give us a call and we can speak about any problems with access over the phone.

On the day that the delivery is due, please ensure that someone is in to sign for the delivery. This is to ensure that the goods have been checked and signed off as delivered and received by you, the customer. We will always pass on any requests to call you an hour before the delivery is due at your property, however this is not guaranteed and we are unable to take any liability for any consequential losses due to this or due to someone not being there to accept the delivery.

Please ensure at the point of order that there are no access restrictions to your property. Our Vehicles can be up to 28tonne articulated lorry’s that carry out the deliveries. If there is a problem with access then please let us know at the point of order and we will do our very best to try and source an alternative method for you. However this may delay the delivery. We will not accept any additional costs that may need to be paid due to us not been informed that there is restricted access to the delivery address so please ensure this is done before placing the order. If there is no one there to accept the delivery and sign for the goods, there will be a recharge for the re delivery of the goods at a later date.

We try our absolute best to deliver the goods on the date provided at the point of order, however due to the stock of the goods and also the busy transport schedule, we ask our customers to respect that there may be potentially longer lead times. We will try to keep you informed through the entire process and if the goods are not in stock, we will notify you of this as soon as the order is placed. We decide at our discretion if the goods will be delivered by our own vehicles or via carrier due to delivery times and also the distance of the delivery.

We are always available in our office and via email to answer and discuss anything that you see fit in regards to the product and also the delivery’s. We will keep you updated and also will notify to as and when we have an update.

Laying

People are often sceptical when it comes to laying Porcelain due to the ceramic nature of the paver.

They are, however simple to lay as well as been extremely low maintenance when laid.

The area that is going to be paved first of all needs to be dug out at a depth of at least 6-8 inch. This should then be filled up with loose stone such as Mot/crusher run to around ¾ of what has been dug out. This should then be compacted to ensure that the base is strong enough when laying the pavers. Please refer to the picture below.

You have then prepared the ground for the pavers to be laid. You then need to begin thinking about the next step which is your concrete screed. You prepare the concrete bed for each slab individually. The concrete screed should be a semi-dry motor mix, using a 4 part sharp sand to 1 part cement. Therefore you need 4 times the amount of sharp sand as you do cement to prepare the concrete screed. The concrete screed should always be applied to the full paver. Please never use spot bedding as this does not allow the pavers to be supported therefore it will move and crack depending on the weight that’s applied.

As the Porcelain Pavers are not natural product, they are much less porous than Natural stone. This means that they will not readily take water up. We would recommend applying an adhesive to the back of the slab to help the pavers adhere to the bed. You can get an adhesive from any local builder’s merchants. We would recommend applying the adhesive on the entire under side of the pavers immediately before laying.

Once the paver is in place, they can be then tapped into place and also levelling. When tapping the pavers down please use a rubber hammer to ensure that no damage to the slab occur e.g. chipping.

Product Guide

Please note porcelain products colours may slightly vary from the images shown. The texture and appearance can vary from each piece as it is imitating the natural product.

Although the porcelain tiles are uniform in size and thickness, we do not recommend butt jointing and advise that a joint of around 6mm should still be allowed for.

Contemporary Paving will not give a refund or exchange stone on the basis of variation in colour, texture or natural characteristics.

We advise that you should always seek advice before applying any cleaning agents to our products.
